Artisan Commission Policy

1. Commission Rate

AbaSkill Connect charges a platform commission of 5% of the agreed service amount for each completed and paid job. The rate is set by the platform administrator and may be updated from time to time. Artisans will be prompted to accept any material change to the commission rate before it takes effect.

2. How Commission Is Calculated

Commission is calculated from the final agreed service amount — not from an unconfirmed quotation. For example, for a ₦20,000 service:

• Customer pays: ₦20,000
• Platform commission (5%): ₦1,000
• Artisan's estimated share: ₦19,000 (before any separately disclosed payment processing fees)

3. When Commission Is Earned

Commission is recorded as earned only when the service is successfully completed and paid for through the platform. Commission is not earned for:

• Cancelled jobs where no payment was made
• Refunded jobs (commission is reversed)
• Disputed jobs that are resolved in the customer's favour with a refund
• Duplicate payment notifications

4. Artisan Acceptance

Artisans must explicitly accept the commission policy before activating their account. The acceptance records the artisan's user ID, the accepted rate, the policy version, and the timestamp. If the commission rate changes materially, artisans must accept the new terms before the new rate applies to their jobs.

5. Commission Breakdown Visibility

The commission breakdown is shown to artisans when they prepare quotations and to customers when they confirm bookings and before payment. Both parties can see the service amount, commission amount, and artisan's estimated share.

6. Commission Ledger

A secure, auditable commission ledger entry is created for each eligible job. The ledger tracks the gross amount, commission rate, commission amount, artisan share, and status (calculated, pending collection, collected, or reversed). Ledger entries are visible to the relevant artisan and to administrators.

7. Payouts

Customer payment, platform commission, artisan payable balance, refunds, and actual payouts are tracked separately. An artisan's earnings are not marked as paid out merely because the customer paid. Payout schedules and methods are determined by the platform administrator.
